Waverley Baseball Club acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the unceded land on which we play: the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong peoples.
We recognise the unique place held by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the original owners and custodians of the lands and waterways across the Australian continent, with histories of continuous connection dating back more than 60,000 years. We also acknowledge their enduring cultural practices of caring for Country.
We pay respect to all Aboriginal Elders past, present and future.
Baseball is a wonderful sport for boys, girls, women and men aged from 7 to 70. It is a non-contact sport which allows players with varying skills and physical capabilities to participate and enjoy the game. We welcome everybody to join us at Waverley, Melbourne’s leading baseball club.
In our 60+ years we have always focussed on developing the senior players of tomorrow from our junior ranks. Our Junior programme is second to none and the results are there for all to see.
We currently field 12 junior teams from T-ball to U18. In the past ten years we have won dozens of junior premierships and had over 250 players selected for representative teams. This year 5 junior graduates will travel to the USA to take up college scholarships which give them an education as well as playing baseball at a high level.
We field seven Senior teams in the Victorian Summer Baseball League as well as a Masters team. We have played at the highest level (Division 1) since 1976.
We also field Senior and Junior teams in the Melbourne Winter baseball League.
We do not actively recruit players from other clubs, nor do we pay players (other than senior coaches). Of course, should you wish to join us then you will be most welcome. Contact details are available here.
We are delighted to promote a tax-deductible fund raiser to replace the current Waverley batting tunnels with a brand new modern enclosed Multi-Purpose Training Facility (MPTF).
The MPTF’s internal layout will be flexible and allow us to operate up to three batting tunnels and bullpens for pitching practice rain, hail or shine and at night. Our idea is to slide the netting away so it will be possible to do fielding practice indoors too.
This fantastic new facility can also be used to play baseball/softball games with a modified ruled version of the game. People of all ages can come and play at virtually no cost to get started. It will be a great and rewarding facility to any Waverley player and visitors all year round!
We have partnered with the Australian Sports Foundation to make it possible for you make a tax-deductible donation to help us build this new facility.
To make a donation, simply click the button below. You have the option to donate once, or monthly, at any amount you wish. All contributions are gratefully received and appreciated.
