Saturday, March 6 was branded as ‘Super Saturday’ and it certainly lived up to its name.
The day kicked off with our Breast Cancer Awareness function. After a competitive women’s baseball match (amazingly ending in a draw!) everybody adjourned into the club rooms for a sumptuous grazing-plate meal combined with a lot of champagne and discussions. People living with breast cancer as well as survivors spoke about their journey. It was a brilliant day, and the club congratulates Paula, Mel and all the other helpers on their great effort.
The Seconds and Firsts also played against Berwick. The Seconds had a strong 18-2 win with club coach Adam Bright making a cameo appearance on the mound for the last inning. The Firsts also had a win, coming out on top 4-0 in a game which could easily have gone the other way. The Firsts’ win locks them in to top place on the ladder for the season – a great effort for our youthful group and a testament to their development under Adam and his coaching team.
Finally, we had the club’s main fund-raising event for this season – the Reverse Draw. It was great to see so many players and families staying on for the evening and it was a very successful event both socially and financially.
