OH WHAT A NIGHT
Wow. What an incredible night. Just so many highlights as the Club farewelled its SIX US College bound players.
It was great to see such a wide representation of the Club, both from Winter & Summer as we wished the best to Reece Longstaff, Mohi Kahui, Mitch Thomas, Cody Caulfield, Oscar Hargreaves & Ben Fierenzi as an exciting new chapter of their life dawns.
Joining Winter coach Luke Hughes and virtually all the Winter Senior playing group was living legend David Clarkson along with a host of Life Members Brad Orwin, Mark Murphy, Stephanie Evans as well a reigning Summer Club champion Jacob Sheldon-Collins & assistant Jordy Ley.
It underlined just what an impact all six have made on the Club.
Bev Kahui stole the show with a lump-in-the-throat speech about what the Club means to him, Tarn & Mohi and then a family cultural recital with Tarn. Just amazing.
Fabulous to hear from all the parents about their love of their son, the journey that awaits and the part the Waverley Baseball Club played.
An exclamation point was put on proceedings with a group of Mohi’s friends and Mohi treating everyone to the Haka. You can see a video of their performance here.
To pinch a line from Bruce McAveney, it was a special night.
We wish the boys safe travels, and hope to see them back at Waverley at the other end of their adventures.
