| Diamond Digest Latest news from Waverley Baseball Club | A word from the President Welcome to the first edition of the relaunched Diamond Digest. | You are receiving this email because you have had previous contact with Waverley. If you no longer wish to receive any of these newsletters please unsubscribe by clicking here: unsubscribe. | Winter The winter season is drawing to a close with our Firsts sitting in sixth place. The seconds are just outside the top four on percentage and the thirds are sitting comfortably in second place. | Our juniors have had a very interrupted season dealing with weather and COVID disruptions. | With the easing of COVID restrictions, training and matches are permitted to resume. Unfortunately spectators are not permitted for at least the next two weeks. Keep an eye on our facebook pages and the website for further updates. | Summer We are busy preparing for the upcoming Summer season and there will be more news in upcoming editions. | Planning for the Future The club has also initiated a strategic planning process to map out our vision and objectives for the next 3 to 10 years. This process is substantially funded by a grant from the State Government of Victoria and we thank them for their assistance. | We kick off with a planning session to be held at Mulgrave Country Club (a sponsor of the club). This will be facilitated by Bob Stensholt – a highly-credentialed sports administrator and former member of state parliament. The mayor of the City of Monash has tentatively accepted our invitation to address the session. | Vale Peter Flintoff As noted below, sadly Peter Flintoff passed away recently. Our sympathy and best wishes to Michelle and the rest of the Flintoff family. COVID restrictions mean that only 10 people will be able to attend the funeral however it will be streamed at 1pm this Friday, July 31. We will publish details on the website and our Facebook pages as soon as the information is available. | AGM – Tuesday, August 10 Finally, please don’t forget that our AGM will be held on Tuesday, August 10. We are hoping this will be held at the club, however COVID restrictions may require that it be held on-line as it was last year. We have at least two vacancies on the board and we are keen to increase its diversity. Please contact Adrian Dunn if you are interested in nominating for the board at this exciting time for the club. | Stay well, and Go Wildcats | | | | | Sponsor of the week | | Otter Fencing = Quality & Reliability Otter Fencing has been manufacturing, supplying, and installing fencing and gates to suit a wide variety of applications for over 60 years. In that time, Otter Fencing has built its reputation on quality, combined with unsurpassed reliability. |

Baseball Victoria has published a number of training videos showing drills and exercises you can do at home during lock-down. They are available here. |
