Summary of the round
Wet weather caused some issues, with our Thirds and Fourths games unfortunately abandoned due to water-logged grounds however all other senior teams who played won their matches! Junior rep teams started their season this weekend and did well.
T-Ball is coming
Don’t forget that T-ball starts next Saturday morning at 9am. T-ball is a fun, active sport in a safe environment and suits girls and boys aged 5-8 years.
WBSC U23 World Cup
We are proud to report that 6 past Waverley Juniors are representing Australia in the WBSC U23 World Cup tournament being played in Taiwan. This means that former Waverley Juniors make up 25% of the squad. Congratulations and best wishes to: Matt Beattie, Chris Burke, Liam Evans, Jarryd Dale, Blake Townsend and Mitch Edwards.
BBQ Bingo Night
A great time was had by all at the BBQ Bingo night on Saturday night. Thank you to everybody who attended, and particular thanks to the team of volunteers who rolled up their sleeves to make this a great evening.

Great win for the 2s today, defeating Geelong 9-1. We played with a lot of energy early, putting on 5 runs in the bottom of the first and then a further 3 in the second with good aggression and plate discipline. Finn Weichard started for us and gave up just one run and three hits over 5 innings before Tyler Evans came in and pitched efficiently to finish the game. Defensively we were really solid and made some big plays. The relay from Tyler to Ossie to Mitch Lording was a highlight. A couple of our young guys got a taste today with Ethan Johnston and Bangk Gogos coming into the game after Zac Stafilis saw some minutes last week. Thanks to Pagey, Tommy and everyone who helped get the ground in playing condition this morning. Bloody big effort! Go Wildcats

U/18 State Report
Our under 18 State League Wildcats kicked off their season on Sunday against last year’s premiers Sandringham. After some introductions to kick off the day, the boys got off to a solid start, with patient hitting from the top of the order resulting in a first inning run to get out to an early lead. Dante started on the hill for us and pitched well generating a heap of soft contact, but we weren’t able to support his good work in the field and gave up six runs. From there the boys played catch up, and the game turned into a bit of an arm wrestle. Bangk took over on the hill, we made some adjustments and knuckled down in the field, the entire batting lineup worked the Sandy starting pitcher over, and we chipped away at their lead. Unfortunately we weren’t able to overcome that six run first inning and ended up on the wrong side of an 11-5 scoreline. There were a number of highlights for the game, headlined by Ollie’s big hit to left, hits to Jack, Bangk, and Mason, and capped off by a Tommy webgem in short centrefield.
