Summary of the round
Continuing our stunning start to the season, all 6 Mens teams saluted over the weekend. The WBC Board will shout every player a drink of their choice after the completion of training on Thursday night. Unfortunately we also had a few washouts as this interminable wet weather continues!
Darcy Longstaff signs professional contract with the Cincinnati Reds
MASSIVE shout out to Darcy Longstaff on signing a professional contract with the Cincinnati Reds. Darcy joins a long list of juniors who have come through the Waverley Baseball Club junior program to sign professionally with an MLB team. The 18-year-old began playing baseball in the Club’s T-Ball program & along the way he has claimed the Dick Mason (U12), Phil Dale (U14), Peter Sparkman (U16) & Alf Mann (U18) Junior Club Champion awards. When Darcy plays his first professional game next year he will become the 24th Waverley player to play professionally in the USA. Waverley Baseball Club wishes Darcy all the best on his professional career and we hope to see him back at the Club if he ever gets the chance to come back to Australia.

Fabulous to see Rod and David Patonback @ the Club watching their grandson/son Josh wear the Wildcats’ colours. Love to have Josh back wearing the Wildcats top whenever he’s next in town. As our great mate Pete Flintoff would say GO WILDCATS !!!
Club 3150 is back
ITS BACK! After 3 years, Club 3150 is returning to Waverley Baseball Club and we hope to bring back lots of new and familiar faces, especially those we haven’t seen for some time We’re recommencing the purpose of 3150 in a special way, to reunite all our past and present members for a special occasion at the club The event will include an afternoon of enjoyment, catching up and fund raising the new Multi-Purpose Training Facility Tickets include:

- Sweets to finish
- 2 hours open bar (Beer, Wine and Soft drink only, with Spirits at half price)

SENIORS
Firsts Report
The Firsts racked up 20 hits for a 15-2 win over Mulgrave. Jordy Ley led the hitting with four from five hitting while Damon, Mohi, Finn, Mitch Wilhite, Tyler and Shak also collected multiple hits. Jamie Pap threw five innings for two runs from five hits, 4 Ks and no walks. Mitch Ley threw two scoreless innings in relief as the game finished after 7 innings when the 10-run rule was invoked.

Seconds Report
It was a grinding 7-4 win for the 2nds vs Mulgrave today. Every player registered a hit but we battled to string them together at times. Mitch Lording’s two run double in the 5th broke the game open after Mulgrave tied the game up in the 4th. Oz’s sac fly in the 6th scored Ned to give us a valuable 3 run buffer. Finn started on the mound and fought hard giving us four innings and striking out five before Ned came in to close out the last two innings – doing well to work his way through a tricky spot late. Both had excellent support from our defence who put in an errorless performance except for a dud play from the 1B. Great to start the season 3-0 and give ourselves a good platform to build on. Well done to all senior teams today. Go Wildcats

Fourths Report
We came away with an 8 – 2 win on the back of a lot of selfless baseball. Get em on, get em over, get em in … awesome stuff. Quality at bats doing the team thing, stealing bases & taking advantage of their mistakes got us our runs. On top of this offence, we were again errorless backing up Dante & Corey who threw really well restricting Mulgrave to 1 or 2 hits. I’ll take this type approach – energetic & involved – every week.
