| | Juniors Junior games will commence on Saturday, April 29. | BV fees Everyone, and I mean everyone, who wants to play Winter baseball this season MUST register with Melbourne Winter Baseball League before they step foot onto a diamond. | These BV fees provide insurance to all registered players, as well as covering some of the administrative costs of running the competition. | WBC Club Fees WBC fees are now due and payable. These fees are paid directly to the club and help us to cover costs such as ground rental, umpires, coaches, baseballs, utilities etc. | Unfinancial players may find themselves made unavailable for selection, even if this means that we have to play without a full team. If you are unable to pay your club fees by May 15 please contact Adrian Dunn or Andrew Ferguson prior to May 15 to confidentially discuss setting up a payment plan. |

| | | Results from the Firsts’ Summer Grand Final series The Firsts went down 2-1 in their 3 match playoff series against Upwey-Ferntree Gully. | Tyler Evans started game 1 and showed great composure, throwing 4.2 innings and giving up only 2 runs off 5 hits, 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. We out-hit Upwey 9 to 8, but were unable to string together multiple hits in one inning. Jordy Ley, Tommy Maxfield and Damon Hill lead our hitting with 3, 2 and 2 hits respectively. | Our bats fired up in game 2 as we defeated Upwey 7-4. We scored single runs in each of the first, third and fifth innings and then exploded in the seventh with four runs behind hits from Tommy, Liam Evans, Mitch Wilhite and Finn Weichard to lead 7-1. Upwey fought back to 7-4 in the 8th innings however we held them off to take the series to a winner-takes-all final. | In the final playoff match Upwey took advantage of a couple of errors to score 4 runs in the second. We were unable to capitalise on out-hitting Upwey 10-6 in the match, leaving runners in scoring position on multiple occasions. Upwey’s Jarrod Turner threw a complete game and was a deserving winner of the best player in the series. | Despite failing to bring home the chocolates, we have once again proven the strength of the club with all of our players having progressed through our junior ranks to play seniors with Waverley. |
